The Lew Jewett Chapter is dedicated to sharing the art and sport of fly fishing through hands-on education. Throughout the year, we host public seminars covering essential skills such as fly casting, fly tying, and equipment selection.
Our summer casting sessions at Linwood Park in St. Paul provide a great opportunity for anglers of all skill levels to refine their technique. We also organize group fly-tying events and actively participate in the Great Waters Fly Fishing Expo. Several of our members, who are certified casting instructors, assist the Upper Midwest Council of Fly Fishers International in conducting casting lessons. Additionally, Lew Jewett members lead the Youth Introduction to Fly Fishing class, helping the next generation develop a passion for the sport.
In the past, we have partnered with the U.S. National Park Service and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to offer educational programs at William O’Brien State Park and Wild River State Park. Our events are free and open to the public, though a park pass may be required for state park activities. The Lew Jewett Chapter is always looking for new ways to introduce and educate people about fly fishing—whether through structured events or informal mentorship.
